FLACTunes is working perfectly (i’m running Mavricks.)
Holy Moly… simple. No ads, no “I want to use that”; just download and its there in your Launchpad. One simple screen… drag the file or the whole folder into it and presto… its converted and added to iTunes. Converts in seconds, including titles and album covers. No juggling around with setup or screens. Now if only it were that simple to convert vinyl. Would be nice to just enter an album tilte, start the player and just sit back… Ahh, wishful thinking.
Simple and straightforward. Worked flawlessly on my Mac with Mavericks 10.9.3.
Stable, functional and works as advertised. Love it. Perfect tool for converting FLAC.
Was always wanteing Apple to support FLAC in iTunes as it is my main music source. I realized how compressed Mp3 is when I was listening to Spotify in enhanced mode and was contemplating moving to Sonos to be able to support FLAC, then I read about FLACTunes and tried it this morning converting all of my 400+ albums to Apple Lossless. Much more file sizes and it will take iMatch most of the day to compile, but am again listening to music through iTunes in lossless format and loving it. FLACTunes was a snap to use. I went artist by artist to first delete the Mp3 file in iTunes than convert the artists FLAC file to Apple Lossless (As I have music in iTunes purchased those files I left as is). FLACTunes placed the converted file into iTunes and also created a separate file in a FLACTunes folder. I moved this file to external storage for backup and storage. We will see how iMatch reacts to the larger files, but the playback from my MAC is great. The whole process took about two hours to convert and back up 400+ albums. Best $3.99 I have spent for quite a while.
I just bought this based on the reviews. After tranfering my FLAC files into itunes using this app they sound NO BETTER than an MP3
Just picked this up to convert some FLAC files I’ve made awhile ago. Best few bucks I’ve ever spent. You drag and drop, it does the rest! You can’t go wrong with this little proggy.
Most of my music collection is in FLAC so in converting it to ALAC I wanted the least amount of interaction possible. FLACtunes repeatedly pooped the bed while trying to do an import of my whole library at once. It would always get to a certain point and then crash. Really annoying if you don’t want to babysit a program. I ended up using XLD to do it without the pain. Definitely not worth the money. Hasn’t been updated in years. Avoid.
I used this app to convert a large collection (600+) of FLAC files to Apple Lossless. It worked, but I ran into the same issue that R Mongler reported where it would crap out after several hundred files. I eventually got it to work by doing smaller batches at a time, which wasn’t that big of a deal, but the small annoyance of not being able to drag and drop my entire project into the app and have it work while I make a sandwich or something kept me from rating 5 stars. If your projects are smaller or you’re willing to manage smaller batches, this app seems to be a good solution for converting flac to Apple Lossless.
It’s dead simple. And it works. Drag a FLAC file onto the app and it instantly gets converted into iTunes Apple Lossless. All of the reoultion is still there - no compromise in bitdepth or resolution. Highly recommended for converting FLAC files to use on the Mac.
I honestly came to the app store just to buy a .flac to .mp3 converter because I was sick of downloading random programs that gave me limited free trials to do so. I came across this and it did everything as explained and it kept the quality. I also love that it organized the songs well and had the album artwork but that could have been already part of the file. Thank you times a billion. You saved me a lot of time and frustration.
